A Spotlight On Some of The Best Table Saw 2019
Table Saw Reviews:
DEWALT DWE7491RS 10-Inch Jobsite Table Saw
We have decided to start off our best table saw list with a very well-known brand, DeWalt. If you have used power tools before, then the chances are good that you have used a DeWalt product because they dabble in basically every type of power tool. If you have used a DeWalt tool before, then you also know that they tend to be very high-quality, which is the case with the DEWALT DWE7491RS 10-Inch Jobsite Table Saw.
For starters, this comes with a pretty powerful motor. At 15-amps, the motor on the DeWalt is more than capable of tackling the thickest pieces of wood with ease. The power of the motor enables the DeWalt to cut through things like hardwood effectively. Add in a good blade, and the cutting power of this saw is extremely high. It also comes with a 32-inch rip capacity, which is really good for complex woodworking.
Another really good thing about the DeWalt is its fence. The Rack and Pinion Fence System that comes with the DeWalt has quite a few good things going for it. For starters, it is extremely sturdy, which is always a good thing when dealing with fences. Another great thing about it is its adjustability. You always want an adjustable fence as it really adds to the versatility of the table saw, and the Rack and Pinion Fence System is extremely adjustable.
This is a contractor’s saw, which means that it is meant to be fairly portable. The DeWalt manages to achieve this. When it is set up as a stand, it is sturdy and secure, but when you want to pack it up, it is fairly easy to do. It even comes with some attached wheels to make transporting it around easier. Something that makes transporting it around even easier is the presence of an onboard storage system, which allows you to store the power cord and several other things without much hassle.
Finally, we have to mention that this comes with a really good dust collection system. Simply hook up a vacuum, and you will never have to deal with leftover dust shavings again.
Powerful 15-amp motor.
32-inch rip capacity.
Onboard storage system.
Easy to pack up and transport.
Great dust collection system.
Very adjustable fence.
Poor quality miter gauge.
Bosch 10-Inch Worksite Table Saw
It wouldn’t be a best table saw list if we didn’t feature at least one table saw from Bosch. They are a great company that makes a variety of high-quality power tools, including table saws. There are a lot of great aspects to this table saw that need to be mentioned.
The first thing we want to mention is the power of the table saw. The Bosch 10-inch is very similar to the DeWalt table saw that we just finished reviewing when it comes to power output. The Bosch boasts a 15-amp motor that is capable of achieving roughly 3,600 RPM (rotations per minute).
So, if you think back to what we said about the DeWalt, a lot of the same points apply here. That means that the Bosch is capable of handling some pretty tough jobs. It is also capable of cutting through some pretty tough pieces of wood. So, it is a good table saw for tackling just about any job that you can think of.
Another great thing about the Bosch Table Saw is that it features both a good fence and an extra-large working surface. Starting with the fence, the Bosch has a “SqaureLock” rip fence, which has a whole host of great features.
It makes cutting accurately very easy, and it is so good, that it even allows you to cut one handed (although this should only be done if you are experienced). It also has protection against kickbacks. Going along with the high-quality fence is a large cutting area that can accommodate larger pieces of wood.
This is also a very mobile table saw. You can easily pack it up and use the wheels to move it around, either around a job site or to a new area entirely.
It is also a very well-made table saw. It is durable and it is backed up by Bosch’s guarantee of quality, so you can rest assured that this will last you for a decent amount of time.
15-amp motor that can achieve 3,600 RPM.
Pretty durable and well-made.
Very secure fence that provided added kickback protection.
Will need to replace the blade very quickly.
Skilsaw 10″ 15A Portable Worm Drive Table Saw
Moving on, we have another strong contender for the title of best table saw in the form of the Skilsaw 10″ 15A Portable Worm Drive Table Saw.
Something that is pretty unique about this table saw, as you probably can see from the name, is the presence of a worm drive in the table saw. If you don’t know what a worm drive is, all you need to know is that it enables the Skilsaw to have a lot more power and torque than many other competing table saws. Usually, you only see worm drives on things like circular saws, so seeing it on a table saw is a bit more unique.
Of course, the worm drive isn’t the only thing powering the Skilsaw. It also boasts a 15-amp motor. Now, the previous two table saws on our best table saw list had 15-amp motors, so we won’t go over all the positive aspects of this again. Needless to say, the combination of the 15-amp motor and the worm drive make this a very powerful table saw that can tackle most any job that you can think of.
In terms of rip capacity, the saw is a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, it only has a 25-inch rip capacity, which puts it a bit below certain other table saws on this list, like the DeWalt. However, it does have a very well-designed rip fence that also happens to be self-aligning.
In terms of portability, the Skilsaw is again a pretty mixed bag. On the one hand, it weighs very little (only 49 lbs.), so it is fairly easy to carry around if you need to drag it somewhere or if you need to load it into the back of a van. On the other hand, the Skilsaw lacks wheels, which does hamper its portability a bit.
Powerful 15-amp motor.
Worm drive helps the table saw achieve maximum torque and power.
Self-aligning rip fence.
Lightweight and fairly portable.
Low rip capacity.
Could afford to be easier to move around.
Makita 2705 10-Inch Contractor Table Saw
Makita as a brand isn’t quite as well-known as Bosch or DeWalt, but don’t overlook them in favor of more famous brands because as this table saw shows, they can make a very high-quality table saw.
In terms of raw cutting power, the Makita performs quite well.
Like many of the other options on this best table saw list, the Makita boasts a very adequate 15-amp motor. One area where this Makita table saw does have a notable advantage over other table saws discussed so far is in RPM. Most other table saws on this list can achieve roughly 3,600 RPM.
The Makita is able to far surpasses that, and it can achieve a maximum of 4,800 RPM. This makes it arguably the most powerful table saw on the entire best table saw list.
In addition to the great power output of the Makita, it also has a bunch of other great features, including a toolless blade guard system, an adjustable riving knife, and various onboard features designed to protect you from dangerous kickback.
The only issue that we could levy against this saw is that it isn’t as portable as we would like. It is a contractor’s saw, which means that it should be easy to move around, but the Makita lacks wheels, which hampers its mobility.
Can achieve a maximum speed of 4,800 RPM.
Provides extra protection against dangerous kickbacks.
Toolless blade guard system.
No wheels for extra mobility.
WEN 3720 15A Jobsite Table Saw with Rolling Stand
For the last entry on our best table saw list, we wanted to feature a table saw that was a bit more affordable. So far, all the other table saws that we have talked about have been in roughly the same price range. If that price range was too high for you, then you will be glad to know that the WEN is a lot more affordable. It is a good option for those who are budget conscious.
The WEN doesn’t just get by on price however, it has a lot of really good features. For example, it comes with a high-quality 15-amp motor. It also boasts a lot of “luxury” features like onboard storage, an extended cutting surface, and even a pretty decent dust collection system. The presence of these features is pretty surprising given the low price of the table saw.
Dust collection system.
Comes with wheels.
Small rip capacity.
Table Saw Buying Guide
If you look at your average table saw listing on Amazon or on the website of your local hardware store, then you will see a lot of different terms being thrown around. If you don’t know what those individual terms mean, then it can be difficult to evaluate a table saw on your own.
Sure, you could use one of the table saws that we reviewed on our best table saw list, but that doesn’t help you when shopping on your own. This is why we have decided to supplement our table saw reviews with a buying guide. In this buying guide, we will explain what to look for when shopping for a table saw and what a lot of the terminology means.
The Two Different Types Of Table Saws
There are actually two different kinds of table saws. As with most other power tools, each kind has its own distinct pros and cons. The two main kinds of table saws are contractor’s saws and cabinet saws.
If you wanted to get really specific, you could probably break up these categories further, but for the sake of simplicity, we are going to just stick with these two.
Contractor’s saws, as the name indicates, are extremely useful for professional contractors. This is due almost entirely to their mobility. Contractor’s saws are lightweight and mobile for a few reasons. Firstly, they are made from a lighter material (aluminum as opposed to solid steel). Secondly, contractor’s saws have a lighter motor, which helps to reduce the weight significantly.
Contractor’s saws can be good options for both amateurs and professionals alike, despite the name. Sure, they may be designed to be carried easily from job site to job site, but amateur DIYers or home renovators can also get a lot of use out of them.
Cabinet saws, on the other hand, are meant to stay in a single place. Because of this, they tend to be a lot heavier, a lot sturdier, and a lot more powerful. However, all this extra weight and power does result in significantly higher costs.
So, it ends up coming down to what you personally prefer. If you don’t feel like you will ever need to move your table saw at all, then go for the cabinet saw. If, on the other hand, you want some mobility, then go for a contractor’s saw.
As with most power tools, power is of the utmost importance when picking out the right tool for you. It becomes even more important for table saws because being able to cut through large amounts of wood easily is important.
In order to do that, you need a powerful table saw. Measuring the power on a table saw is fairly easy, you just need to look at the number of amps that the table saw. Simply put, the higher the amps, the more powerful the table saw is.
Obviously, you shouldn’t always jump at the most powerful table saw that you find. More powerful table saws are useful, but if you aren’t cutting wood all the time, you might not get as much use out of a very powerful table saw. More powerful table saws are more expensive, so unless you need the extra power, it might be a good idea to buy a different saw.
When shopping for a table saw, you don’t want to just focus on the saw itself, you also want to focus on what blade comes with the table saw. The blade that your table saw uses can end up being as important as the table saw itself. There are several different kinds of blades.
Some come with more teeth, and some with less. The material that the blade’s teeth are made out of also matters. Regular steel teeth are good, but if you want true durability and cutting power, then you want to look for carbide-tipped teeth. Of course, you can always buy extra blades or different blades and install them yourself.
The fence on a saw is the metal piece that you use to guide the piece of wood that you are cutting. When evaluating the fence on a table saw, there are a few things that you want to keep in mind. The best table saw is one that has a fence that is very sturdy and that can be adjusted. Adjustability, in particular, is very important as it makes cutting different sizes of wood a lot easier.
Dust Collection Systems
A natural consequence of doing anything with a table saw is that dust will get everywhere. It really isn’t fun to spend hours on a project, only to have to spend a bunch of time sweeping up dust and debris that have gotten everywhere.
This is where dust collection systems come in handy. Many table saws, including a few on the best table saw list, have really good dust collection systems. While they can seem like a bit of an unnecessary luxury at first, trust us when we say that they really do make your life a lot easier.
We hope that regardless of whether you are an amateur DIYer or a veteran woodworker, that you got some value out of our best table saw article.
